Macon County is just an hour away from Nashville, the capital of
Tennessee. Known as "The Athens of the South," Nashville is known
for its beauty, culture, sports, medical facilities, restaurants,
museums, and (of course) country music!
Three major Interstate highways converge in Nashville, I-65 (the
north-south route from the Gulf of Mexico in Alabama to Chicago ), I-40,
the east-west route from the Atlantic Ocean in North Carolina to
California), and I-24 which runs northwest from Chattanooga to Illinois.
Nashville is home to the world-famous Grand Ole Opry and Ryman
Auditorium. The Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) and
Gaylord Entertainment Center have year-round concerts and plays that
attract tens of thousands.
